Best Camera Backpack for Us Women!

Finally after years of bad purchases I have found the best camera backpack for us women photographers.

First so many camera backpacks are just for camera gear and maybe a water bottle! There’s little room for a wallet, jacket, lunch, lip balm, etc.  As a nature photographer I am outdoors almost all the time, in the mountains, in the woods, at the beach etc. What I wanted was a camera backpack with all the camera conveniences PLUS the functionality of an urban backpack (room for laptop or ipad, keys, rain jacket) and with the room of a small  handbag for wallet, notepad, glasses, business cards etc.  Not too much to ask, right?!

Second, till now they were all designed for men. No specifically, but the “fit” has always been designed on a male body. I guess the male (?) designers weren’t aware that females photogs also love to have a great camera backpack!  Most of the time the fit is not a huge deal, but after several hours of trekking with a not perfect fitting camera backpack, I found my shoulders, neck and lowerback would ache incessantly.

Third, the offering for women all seemed to be “fashion forward” and more designed as an all purpose purse for the urban woman who also carried camera gear.

F-Stop Gear Camera Backpack with a Fit for Women

So my quest for the perfect best camera backpack went on for several years till a pro wildlife photographer told me about F-Stop Gear.

And it was there that I found my dream camera backpack.  Now this was a few years ago and the exact model I have has been updated and no longer comes is the highly visible Malibu Blue colour. But all the features art still there.

The F-Stop gear Guru Camera Backpack sports an aluminum frame, connections for hydration systems, tripod holder, cup holder, and is expandable. You also get a configurable inside case for your camera gear, that integrates seamlessly into the backpack itself. There are a few different sizes depending on the type and amount of gear you have.

If you go for the larger compartment container you do give up some of the additional storage space on the top of the backpack. I need this space for gloves, snacks, and often the Sony a6000 for an easy to grab second camera.

Compact & Light-weight
Room for laptop, ipad etc,
Tons of room for cameras
