Learn Nature & Outdoor Photography Skills
Learn About Digital Cameras
The first nature photography technique is to learn about cameras, particularly YOUR camera. This may be why the most common comment I hear about my photographic work is “Wow – you must have a great camera!” (LOL.) Everyone thinks it’s the camera that’s responsible for a great photo. Would you tell a carpenter, “Hey I love your house – you must have a good hammer”. But all joking aside, you must learn about cameras and all their options, and how and when to use every one of them. You’ll know how to use the right “tool” – lens, filter, and other camera equipment for the job of capturing what you see and feel.
Learn Photography Skills
The second skill is learning how to use your camera like an artist, and see nature with an artist’s eye – to get into the heart of your subject, whether it’s a landscape, a flower, a tree, a specific scene, animal or thing. Capture what’s in your mind’s eye – use aperture, shutter speed and lenses like an artist. Great photographic artists can make the most mundane subjects into eye-popping creations that command attention. Knowing how your camera works and how to use it will give you all the tools you need to get better images.
Learn Digital Photography and Editing
And the last skill is the creative process of photo editing your nature photos and images to create evocative works of art. What is your intention? Your vision? How do you make it happen with creative photo editing techniques? What is the best software for editing nature photos? How to you replace the sky? How do you make composites? How to make 360 images. You’ll find it all here.
MESSAGE from ALEX – Winter 2021:
Nature Photography Central has been online for almost 20 years! I decided during this pandemic that it’s a good time to revamp and update the entire site from top to bottom. Some content is so old it’s not relevant and it became kinda embarrassing for me to still have it up.
So I hope the look of things here has not put you off too much – there is lots of good stuff still here, But while I reorganize and “de-clutter” it may not look so pretty.
