As you have probably figured out by now I am a fan of several Photoshop/Lightroom plugins – The new Google Nik plugins, and of course Topaz Plugins. I have written about both before, but yesterday Topaz announced its new Clarity plugin for Photoshop, PSE and Lightroom.I am pretty impressed with this one too! Using some sophisticated contrast algos Topaz Clarity makes your images POP! Like the similarly named adjustment in both Photpshop and Lightroom, Topaz Clarity can either be a one-click adjustment or you can refine the presets with custom choices to create your own unique set of rules for your images. The look is realistic and subtle – but at the same time dramatic. What I mean is that when you look at the “Clarified” image it looks good. You don’t really notice any obvious post processing artifacts or hints of any specific post-processing technique – HDR for example. There are no halos or bands in the resulting images – it’s very impressive.
If you’ve tried my free LAB color action, you’ll appreciate Topaz Clarity. It can be just as subtle! (or not, depending on how much drama YOU want to create!)
Here is a before and after shot of one my images using Topaz Clarity… after the Coupon code for the plug-in 🙂
